Fulham defender Matthew Briggs could be on the verge of a recall to the first team, reveals manager Mark Hughes.

Briggs, who turned 20 on Wednesday, has not played for the Cottagers since limping out of their defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League three months ago with a calf problem.

The young defender has recently signed a new contract with the club until 2014 and could make an imminent comeback now he has returned to full fitness.
"He's had a few injury problems but hopefully he's over them because they were holding him back," Hughes told the club's official website.
"When I picked him at Arsenal, that came to the fore and we knew something significant was going on that needed to be addressed.
"Thankfully, we seem to have resolved that and he can start featuring for us."

Mark joined Fulham from Middlesbrough in the summer 2008 and signed a two- year-deal with the Whites.
The Mark Schwarzer superlatives came thick and fast during the keeper's first campaign at the Cottage, with the Australian international experiencing a very successful first season at Fulham.

At times the 37-year-old looked virtually unbeatable as Fulham’s last line of defence put together a catalogue of world-class goalkeeping. The former Middlesbrough stopper more than played his part in the Whites’ most successful Barclays Premier League season to date, and garnered glowing recognition from his Manager and team-mates, pundits and press, and the fans – who named him their Player of the Year.

And the big Aussie was more than worthy; winning and securing a number of precious points, particularly outside of SW6, and alongside Aaron Hughes, Brede Hangeland, John Pantsil and Paul Konchesky he formed one of the league’s meanest defences - finishing the campaign with 15 clean sheets and just 34 goals conceded.

His free transfer from Middlesbrough, where he spent 11 years, surely represents one of the Club’s greatest pieces of business with the Club fighting off interest from both Juventus and Bayern Munich for his signature. Very few command their box with more governance, and coupled with his exceptional reaction and agility, he’s a ‘keeper that breathes confidence into those in front of him.

In a season that also saw him named as the inaugural Australian Footballer of the Year Schwarzer was rewarded with a one-year contract extension that will make him a Fulham player until the summer of 2011. 
Schwarzer was once again consistently outstanding last season (2009/10) and received February's Barclays Player of the Month Award after helping Fulham to an unbeaten month, which saw the Aussie keep five clean sheets in eight league and cup games.   
After another stunning campaign for the Whites, Schwarzer played in all three of Australia's group D matches against Germany, Ghana and Serbia, at the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa.
After missing the first four games of 2010/11 Barclays Premier League campaign through injury, Schwarzer returned to fitness at the start of September and has remained a constant presence in Mark Hughes' starting eleven ever since.
January 2011 saw Schwarzer compete in the 2011 Asian Cup with Australia, but the Socceroos lost out to Japan by one goal to nil in the Final in Qatar. On his return to SW6 Schwarzer went straight back into Mark Hughes' starting eleven for Fulham's 1-0 win over Newcastle at the Cottage.
